The wedding cake is not at all within the Jewish tradition. Most Yeshivish couples and Chassidic couples do not have a wedding cake, and they, certainly, do not make a ritual out of cutting the cake and feeding it to each other. We have our own rituals which should be appreciated for their meaning and beauty. Would you suggest that kallahs should start throwing their bouquets to their friends or remove their garters at the wedding?

Forget about overstock, <a href="http://www.bidz.com" rel="nofollow">www.bidz.com</a>, has rings too.

That said, I'm very much against this idea. Not only does it add to the already insane wedding prices, it's not even something essential and would make a better wedding anniversary gift than a wedding gift.

What are good wedding gifts from kallah/kallah's parents to chosson?
1. Talis. At least one. Can also give a separate shabbos/yom tov one with bling. I have regular black and a blue one for shabbos/yom tov.
2. Talis bag.
3. Kittel.
4. Shas. Though better to wait until one of Artscroll's sales instead of paying full price.

These 4 are useful things that the guy will actually need. A watch, he already has.

I'd always go for diamonds even if it's only for one night. real is real, I can't think of wearing glass. I'm actually borrowing these really beautiful earrings from my aunt for my wedding.
